In a recent intense confrontation between rival terrorist factions Boko Haram and the ISWAP group, more than 60 militants lost their lives in Borno state, Nigeria. The deadly skirmish unfolded on Saturday at Tumbum Ali Island in the Marte local government area, leading to casualties on both sides.
The precise number of casualties remains unconfirmed, but reports indicate that the violence claimed the lives of over 60 fighters from both Boko Haram and ISWAP. Notably, several commanders from both groups were among those who perished.
Despite the Nigerian Army's ongoing efforts to swiftly respond to the two extremist factions, the continuous hostilities have exacerbated the conflict. While the military perceives the engagement as a potential weakening of the two groups, the persistent fighting underscores the challenges in resolving the threat posed by Boko Haram and ISWAP.
